Rally is a coordination service operated by Jay Digital. Members pay a recurring subscription, and a defined portion of each payment is routed through Stripe to one person at the front of a public queue.
Rally is not a bank, not an insurer, not a lender, and not a registered charity. Your payment settles into Rally’s Stripe balance and the recipient’s share is transferred out of it to their own Stripe account. Stripe holds the funds throughout. Rally does not move them through a bank account of its own and does not choose who receives them.
Your subscription is $3 per month. Of each payment, $1.61 is routed to the person currently being funded. The remainder covers card processing and the operation of the service.
You are paying for access to the service and for that routing to happen. You are not purchasing goods, an investment, a security, an insurance policy, or any promise of a future payment to you.
Anyone with an account may join the queue and ask for help, whether or not they contribute. Contributing is invited but never required, and it confers no advantage: it does not affect your position, your waiting time, or the amount you may receive. Joining the queue does not entitle you to receive money, and no amount and no date is promised to you.
The queue is ordered by when each person joined it. Estimated waiting times shown in the interface are calculated from the current number of contributing members and the amounts people ahead have asked for. They are estimates, they change, and they are not commitments. Where Rally cannot calculate one honestly, it shows nothing rather than a guess.
Before money can reach you, you must complete identity verification with Stripe. That collects your legal name, date of birth, address, tax identification, and a bank account in your name, and in some cases photo identification. It is required by law for anyone receiving funds through a licensed payment processor. Rally does not see or store those details.
Money received through Rally is a transfer from other members. It is not a charitable donation and not a grant. Funds received through Rally may be taxable income. Consult a tax professional. Stripe issues tax forms where the amounts require it.
After being funded you may not rejoin the queue for 12 months, so that people who have not had a turn are not displaced.
Rally is not a registered nonprofit. Subscription payments and contributions made through Rally are not tax deductible, and nothing in this service should be read as suggesting otherwise.
You may cancel at any time from your settings, without contacting anyone. Cancelling stops future payments. It does not refund payments already made, because those have already been routed to a person.
Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel it. If the price changes, you will be given at least 30 days notice by email before the new price takes effect, and you may cancel before it does.
You may not use Rally to request funds for anything unlawful, to misrepresent who you are or what you need, to request funds on behalf of somebody else without saying so, or to hold more than one place in the queue.
Rally may remove a person from the queue, suspend an account, or refuse service where there is good reason to believe these terms have been broken. Where funds have already been paid out, recovery may not be possible, and Rally absorbs that out of its own share rather than out of anybody else's contribution.
If you dispute a charge with your card issuer, Stripe reverses the funds. Where the corresponding contribution has already reached a person, Rally covers the difference from its own share rather than recovering it from them.
Rally is provided as it is. It may be unavailable at times and its features may change. It is operated by one person and is not a critical financial service, so it should not be relied on for anything urgent.
These terms may change. Where a change materially affects you, notice will be given by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Rally after that point means the revised terms apply.
Rally does not publish a support email address. Everything comes through the reporter on the support page, which files a ticket and gives you a reference on screen.
Written by the person who runs Rally, not by a lawyer. It is published in full, in plain language, so it can be read and argued with rather than skimmed and accepted. If anything here is wrong, unclear, or does not match what Rally actually does, say so and it gets corrected.
